Painter Remedios Varo is one of the women in oblivion in Mexican exile. Elements like their relationship with anarchist circles, their belonging to the Surrealist group, where women are not on the official list of its members, or her arrival to a country that was slow to get rid of the influence of Rivera and Kahlo, contributed to remain her figure and work in the background. She is at present the only case of a foreign artist whose work is considered to be national heritage in Mexico.
