Field of study: French Philology
Josefina BUENO ALONSO is Senior Lecturer in French Philology at the University of Alicante since 1992.
She is specialised in African literature and cultures.
She worked on the discourse of Muslim women in France and on the continuous challenge created when trying to establish a dialogue in the European area with the countries that define Maghreb. Underlining the importance of Spain as a country facing a strong immigration from Africa, her research focused, these last years, on the narrow relationships between writers and intellectuals from both seashores, turning Spanish and Catalan into creation languages in the Maghreb countries and other African ones.
She has been principal researcher in various I+D+I projects of the Sciences and Innovation Ministry.
Currently, she is principal researcher of a project of the Research, Development and Innovation National Program dealing with the challenges of society, which title is: "Spanish, a language mediator of new identities".
Mrs. Bueno is an evaluator from the National Evaluation and Futurology Agency (ANEP) of the MINECO.
She is evaluator in gender projects for the Woman and Sciences Unit, dependent from the MINECO.
She is Academic supervisor of the new Miguel de Cervantes Virtual Library Portal on "African Literature” which gathers Spanish and Catalan texts from African male and female writers.
